Royal Wood
The ancient form of Darkroot, full of scorpion-tailed golems and Ents. Black Dragon Kalameet circles overhead.

- Black Dragon Kalameet: Ask Hawkeye Gough to shoot him down first. Stay near his side, avoid the cursing eye, and cut his tail for the Obsidian Greatsword.

Walkthrough: Sanctuary Garden, Oolacile Sanctuary and Royal Wood
- Go to Darkroot Basin and examine the dark portal near where the Golden Crystal Golem stood (requires the Broken Pendant and Dusk rescued).
- Rest at the Sanctuary Garden bonfire, go through the fog and defeat the Sanctuary Guardian.
- Cut its tail for the Guardian Tail.
- Up the path is Oolacile Sanctuary. Light its bonfire and say yes when Elizabeth asks her question.
- A corpse nearby holds Humanity. Below lies Royal Wood; deal with the first group of Ents and Stone Guardians.
- Three pickups in this clearing: Guardian Gauntlets up the right-hand tower, a Blue Titanite Slab in the central chest, Guardian Leggings off to the left.
- Cross the bridge on the left, avoid Kalameet's flames, kill the Crystal Lizard and deal with the Stone Guardian that appears.
- On the left a gap leads down and across to more Ents and a Stone Guardian; drop over and clear them.
- Loot nearby: the Guardian Helm on a ledge, and the Guardian Armor with Gough's Great Arrows where the Stone Guardian was.
- Pick up the Elizabeth's Mushroom in a hidden alcove.
- Return over the gap; more Ents lurk on the left, and a Gold Coin lies among them.
- Near the tower stand two Stone Guardians. Once they are down, chase the Crystal Lizard before it vanishes.
- Grab the soul behind the tower, ride the elevator down and take the soul around the corner at the bottom.
- Marvelous Chester waits past the bridge. Agree to his question, trade if you like, then take the elevator to unlock a shortcut.
- Go through the fog and defeat Knight Artorias.
- After a reload, Lord's Blade Ciaran kneels at the grave. Hand her the Soul of Artorias, or fight her for the Lord's Blade Set, Dark Silver Tracer and Gold Tracer.
- The second exit of the arena leads into Oolacile Township, where a bonfire waits just inside.
- Go back into Royal Wood, follow the path beside the elevator down into the valley and take the soul on the left at the bottom.
- Follow the gorge onward and down a ladder past a Crystal Lizard. Let Black Dragon Kalameet strike at you once, then retreat to the bonfire.
Walkthrough: Oolacile Township
- Have a light source: the Skull Lantern, the Sunlight Maggot or the Cast Light sorcery.
- Stay to the right on the steps down, picking up souls, then circle behind the building and roll onto the ledge below.
- Use your light on the illusory wall of the building on the left and open the chest for the Silver Pendant.
- Clear the second building: its chest has the Dark Orb sorcery, and the Bloathead Sorcerer on the outside ledge drops the I'm sorry Carving.
- Back on the main path, cross the wooden bridge and survive Marvelous Chester's invasion.
- Finish crossing, get the Very good! Carving from a mimic and shoot the Bloathead Sorcerer below.
- Halfway down the stairs, cross onto the rooftop and kill the Crystal Lizard (reload if it is missing).
- Over the walkway, the next building's ground floor is dangerous. Clear it with care for Rubbish, the Dark Fog sorcery and a soul.
- Go upstairs, reveal the illusory wall with your light and open the chest for a Red Titanite Chunk.
- Return across the rafters and roll onto the balcony; a mimic there carries the Crest Key.
- Drop onto the roof from the next room and climb across it for Twin Humanities.
- Jump down, unlock the lift shortcut and light the bonfire.
- The Crest Key opens a door up the right-hand stairs near the colosseum.
- Hawkeye Gough sits inside. Say yes twice and he agrees to shoot Kalameet out of the sky; he also sells the Hello Carving and Thank you Carving.
- Return to Royal Wood, go down to the valley and defeat Black Dragon Kalameet.
- Cut his tail for the Obsidian Greatsword.
- He drops the Calamity Ring when he dies.
- Then collect the souls, the Titanite Slab in a chest behind the waterfall and Gough's Great Arrows at the far end of the valley.
- Hawkeye Gough rewards the dragon's death with Gough's Greatbow; visit him in the colosseum tower.
- Ride the elevator shortcut down, clear the Bloatheads and kill the Chained Prisoner for the Chain Helm and Chain Leggings.
- Summon the lift, slay the Bloathead riding it and light the Oolacile Township Dungeon bonfire.
