Demon Ruins

Lava-filled ruins beneath Quelaag's Domain, home to Ceaseless Discharge, the Demon Firesage and the Centipede Demon.

  • Suggested level: 55–65

Bosses

  • Ceaseless Discharge: Grab the gold-hemmed set behind him to start the fight, then lure him to the fog gate edge and hit his arm, or run back to the gate.
  • Demon Firesage: A fiery cousin of the Asylum Demon. Keep behind it, roll away from its fire burst and use the Demon's Catalyst it drops later.
  • Centipede Demon: Cut off its arms and tail to make it weaker; the tail drops the Orange Charred Ring, which lets you walk on lava longer.

  • Demon Great Machete: Sold by Shiva of the East; can drop from the Capra Demon or Capra Demons in the Demon Ruins.
  • Demon's Catalyst: Dropped by the Demon Firesage in the Demon Ruins.
  • Gold-Hemmed Black Hood: On a grave at the far end of Ceaseless Discharge's area; taking it starts the boss fight.
  • Gold-Hemmed Black Cloak: On a grave at the far end of Ceaseless Discharge's area; taking it starts the boss fight.
  • Gold-Hemmed Black Gloves: On a grave at the far end of Ceaseless Discharge's area; taking it starts the boss fight.
  • Gold-Hemmed Black Skirt: On a grave at the far end of Ceaseless Discharge's area; taking it starts the boss fight.
  • Orange Charred Ring: Reward for slaying the Centipede Demon.
  • Large Flame Ember: Down the great stairs of the Demon Ruins, along the left path before the fog gate.
  • Chaos Flame Ember: On a corpse in the drained lava bed after Ceaseless Discharge and the Taurus Demons.

Walkthrough: Demon Ruins

  • Defeat Ceaseless Discharge.
  • Picking up the Gold-Hemmed Black Set behind him is what starts the fight.
  • Restore your humanity before descending further.
  • Knight Kirk invades again here; beat him for the Spiked Shield and the Barbed Straight Sword.
  • A Burrowing Rockworm guards the platform below. Kill it, then light the Demon Ruins Central bonfire.
  • Go down the stairs and left along the ledge to the chest with the Large Flame Ember; Rockworms hide in the floor.
  • Back at the fog gate, Chaos Servants at rank +2 can go down to the right to open the shortcut to Lost Izalith.
  • To save Solaire, kill the bug-headed creatures there to get the Sunlight Maggot before he arrives.
  • The fog gate leads to the Demon Firesage; it leaves behind the Demon's Catalyst.
  • Behind the Stone Demons, a staircase leads to a Soul of a Brave Warrior.
  • Optional co-op around levels 55–60.
  • Upstairs is a shortcut that links straight back to Quelaag's Domain; open it.
  • Go back and down to the Demon Ruins Lower bonfire.
  • Defeat the Centipede Demon.
  • Cutting off its tail drops the Orange Charred Ring early, but it also drops the ring when it dies.
  • A Green Titanite Shard lies in the clearing off to the right.
  • Wear the Orange Charred Ring to reduce lava damage.
  • Optional co-op around level 60+.
  • Leave by the tunnel, rest at the Lost Izalith Entrance bonfire and talk to Solaire of Astora if he is there.
  • Continue into Lost Izalith.

Walkthrough: Lost Izalith

  • Two souls lie on the path to the first ruined building, and a chest inside holds a third.
  • The next building has a branch you can run up for Twin Humanities.
  • Drop to the building's base, hit its illusory wall and rest at the Lost Izalith Lava Field bonfire as a human.
  • Enter the ruins and take the soul hidden on the left just before the stairs.
  • Up the stairs, kill the Chaos Eater and the hostile Chaos Servant sorceress for the Izalith Catalyst, then kill Knight Kirk when he invades.
  • A second Chaos Eater guards a chest with the Chaos Fire Whip pyromancy.
  • Follow the branch down and clear out every Stone Demon.
  • A Titanite Demon here drops Demon Titanite. Skipped the Chaos Servant shortcut? Open it now and slay the bugs for the Sunlight Maggot.
  • Walk to the left of the alcove to trigger the collapsing floor.
  • Wear the Rusted Iron Ring and walk down the branch. Do not talk to Siegmeyer of Catarina yet; kill all but one Chaos Eater from above with ranged attacks.
  • Now talk to Siegmeyer, follow him into the pit and keep him above half health while you finish the last Chaos Eaters.
  • With the pit clear, collect a soul and Green Titanite Shards, then speak to him once more.
  • The tunnels hold a chest with a Red Titanite Slab, plus a Red Titanite Chunk at the top of some stairs.
  • Climb back up the branches to the boss fog gate.
  • Defeat the Bed of Chaos.
  • Break the right root first, then the left one, then drop through the middle and strike the bug.
  • Optional co-op around levels 60–75.
  • Warp to the Daughter of Chaos bonfire and pick up the Thorns Set now lying there.
  • Some Taurus Demons now roam the Demon Ruins; beat them and fish the Chaos Flame Ember and a soul out of the lava.
  • Back at Firelink Shrine, have another word with Sieglinde of Catarina.
  • Travel to the Stone Dragon bonfire and follow the beach to the Ash Lake bonfire. Sieglinde is there and gives you a Titanite Slab.
  • With a divine weapon ready, warp to Firelink Shrine and go down into The Catacombs.
